Recycling Guide - Aluminium

Aluminum is very popular as packaging. It is light and reliably protects the contents from foreign odors, oxidation and light. That's why aluminum is found everywhere, especially as food packaging in the form of trays, cans or foil.
Aluminum is obtained from bauxite, a natural ore made up of different minerals. At 8%, aluminum is the most common metal in the earth's crust. Galvanic processes are used in production, which consume enormous amounts of electricity. Recycling aluminum is done by remelting aluminum scrap.
Compared to initial production, recycling saves approximately nine kilograms of CO2 per kilogram of aluminum and up to 95% energy. In addition, aluminum can be reprocessed an infinite number of times without any loss of quality.
